Apparently the guy who caught this one fishes for a commercial tackling supply company and has taken a few in excess of 100 Kg over the years, but this one being the biggest. The world record is a good 30 Kg more though.
Steve’s brother in the U.K. loves to catch carp. This catfish would amount to all of the carp that he has ever caught in his life AND some! What a catch! Would they eat this or let it go?
This specific Catfish was released unharmed as are many other large breeding fish, but the 4 – 5 Kg fish are nice eating
We had salt water catfish thingos called cobbler when we lived in W.A. very good eating
I always thought a Cobbler is a shoe maker – never had any Cobbler fish, nor seen one
They are a type of native saltwater catfish in Western Australia. They have very tasty sweet meat but they also have a poisonous barb on top of them and hurt like heck if you accidentally tread on one when you are walking in the water!
Australia is a crazy [lace – Have salt water crocodiles and the rest of the world have freshwater ones. It now sounds as this catfish is very similar to the freshwater ones found all over the world???
Possibly, but unlike most freshwater catfish it tastes delicious! 🙂
